Food self-sufficiency
We develop 8 activities to stop deforestation, we protect 1.150.212 hectares of natural forests in the Indigenous Reservation of the Matavén Forest, while safeguarding its biodiversity and providing education, healthcare, sanitation, food security & several co-benefits for 15.932 indigenous people.

Specific objective: With activities 4, 5 & 6 we look to guarantee Matavén food security and food self-sufficiency.

ACTIVITY 4: DEVELOPMENT OF FAMILY-BASED AGRI-FOOD PRODUCTION SYSTEMS

We promote sustainable agricultural practices (land use) to boost Matavén production of staple foods and reduce the rate of deforestation while guaranteeing food security of indigenous families. 

ACTIVITY 5: IMPLEMENTATION OF TRAINING AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR RIU-SM INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES

We provide tools, training, workshops, education programs and economic assitance to improve learning conditions and increase Matavén indigenous communities’ skills to protect their natural resources.

ACTIVITY 6: DEVELOPMENT OF PRODUCTION PROJECTS

We design and implement Productive Projects in addition to the Family-based Agri-Food Production Systems in order to boost food production, promote sustainable agricultural practices and create new economic and commercial opportunities for Matavén indigenous communities.
